A compassionate guide for positive life change

    Therapy Approaches

    Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy -
    Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps people
    increase awareness of how  thoughts,
    feelings, and behavior are linked
    in triggering situations. Newer approaches
    (like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
    emphasize greater acceptance of
    negative feelings in the specific
context of your life. You learn how to take action
to do the things you really value in life while developing
specific skills for coping with negative thoughts and
feelings. Engaging in life experiences that you might have
previously avoided, the negative feelings can become less
intense and are less likely to take over.

Internal Family Systems Therapy - This therapy model,
developed by Richard Schwartz, helps people tune in to
their internal landscape and get to know inner motivations,
feelings, memories, and associations with an attitude of
self-caring and compassion. With this therapy approach you
increase awareness of parts of yourself that may have
become polarized and extreme. Through Self awareness
you are empowered to take leadership of your life with
    greater spontaneity, creativity, and balance.

Art Therapy - Many of my clients assume that art therapy
might be just for kids, but art expression is an effective way
for adults to get out of their heads and into authentic
experience. No art ability is required, just a willingness to
explore and express yourself using simple art materials. My
expertise is in helping guide your dialogue with the images
you create, promoting deeper self-discovery and
understanding. Your art becomes a lasting, tangible record
    of this process.

Body-Mind Wellness Practices  - While most of the
counseling I do involves talking, we will also attend to the
whole you, helping you listen to your body's wisdom and
learn to cultivate and care for your life energy. Techniques
that I draw from include diaphragmatic breathing,
Focusing, Qi gong, and embodied movement. In addition I
may suggest mild, herbal remedies to aid your self-healing
such as teas, aromatherapy, and flower essences.
